Jakarta Targets May 2026 Finish for JIS-Ancol Integrated Bridge

Governor Pramono Anung officially kicked off the construction of a landmark pedestrian bridge (JPO) linking the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and the Ancol coastal area on Sunday (1/25).

Getting to JIS and Ancol will be a breeze for everyone

The project is a strategic collaboration between the Jakarta government and state-owned bank PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN).

The groundbreaking ceremony was marked by a symbolic button-pressing led by Governor Pramono, Vice Governor Rano Karno, and Jakarta City Council Chairman Khoirudin, alongside top executives from BTN, Jakpro, and Pembangunan Jaya Ancol.

This strategic move aims to cement Ancol as Jakarta’s next iconic landmark while maximizing the potential of the JIS Stadium. The vision is to transform North Jakarta into a more integrated and world-class competitive district.

"I am confident this will reshape the face of Jakarta, especially in the north. With the bridge finishing in May and Ancol Station opening in April, getting to JIS and Ancol will be a breeze for everyone," he expressed.

He is pushing city-owned enterprises (BUMDs) to ramp up activities at JIS and Ancol, specifically challenging JIS management to land world-class concerts this year.

He believes the stadium's chronic parking and transport headaches will be resolved by tapping into Ancol’s vast parking facilities, linked directly via the new bridge. This is further bolstered by enhanced train and Transjakarta access.

"This bridge must serve as an icon that delivers massive benefits—not just for Ancol and JIS, but for Jakarta's progress as a whole," he asserted.

PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) President Director, Nixon LP Napitupulu stated that the "JPO Bersama BTN" (Pedestrian Bridge) project is a concrete example of synergy between a state-owned enterprise and the Jakarta government. This collaboration is designed to bolster North Jakarta’s vision as a new center for economic growth.

"Hopefully, this bridge becomes a new landmark and a catalyst for economic activity in the JIS and Ancol corridors. With full transport integration—ranging from commuter train lines and the MRT to Transjakarta—this area has the potential to evolve into an international-class destination," he explained.

Nixon also announced two upcoming international sporting events organized by BTN to celebrate Jakarta's Anniversary: BTN Jakarta International Marathon 2026 and Jakarta International Criterium. These events underscore BTN’s commitment to supporting Jakarta’s journey toward becoming a dynamic and modern global city.

PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) President Director, Iwan Takwin emphasized that the bridge connecting JIS and Ancol is more than just physical infrastructure; it is a definitive solution to the accessibility hurdles the stadium has long faced.

The bridge features a total length of 466 meters and a width of 6.6 meters. The design integrates a 166-meter reinforced concrete and steel structure with a 300-meter dedicated pedestrian path.

"This construction is a strategic collaboration to bolster connectivity between tourism, sports, and residential zones. Our goal is to finally answer the accessibility challenges that have existed at JIS," he explained.

He expressed optimism that the bridge will significantly enhance the experience for visitors at both JIS and Ancol, while fueling economic development in North Jakarta through improved regional integration.

"This landmark will provide inclusive access for the public and solidify the synergy between Jakpro and Ancol in co-hosting world-class events," he concluded.
